Yuletide Prompts and Learning to Let Go

Nov 27, 2023 20:16

I'll be cranking out holiday drabbles in my Yuletide verse again this year. In the interest of making things easier (for me), I'm not going to ask for prompts. Rather, if you'd like a chapter dedicated to you, please let me know in comments. What you get will be a surprise!

Also in the interest of making things easier (for me), I have no plans to update my other holiday verses: Gingerbread Doppelgangers, Tinsel and Mistletoe, and The Christmas Knickers.

I have long told fandom friends suffering from burnout, "Fandom is meant to be fun. If it starts feeling like a chore, take a step back from it."

You may or may not have noticed, but I have been taking steps back recently. It's tough! I didn't participate in fests this past year that I've always enjoyed, I didn't run the Fluffy Halloween Fest, I haven't offered to write any Dove drabbles, and December's prompt at poetic_hp will be the last. Part of me feels guilty, but the larger part of me feels relieved.

I have no plans to walk away completely. I still enjoy cracking out 100-word drabbles, continuing established verses (my Yuletide verse is probably one of my own all time favorites), and offering birthday fics. However, it's time for me to take my own advice; I'm stepping back.
