"I want to go with you and...and do things," Hermione admitted. "Maybe it isn't the wisest decision I've made, but it's been a trying evening." Hermione bit her lip and added in a whisper, "Make me forget."

Bulstrode smiled, but her expression was gentle; the Slytherin girl didn't smirk or gloat. Instead, she nodded and reached for Hermione's hand. "I know where we can go," she said. "No one will disturb us there."

Hermione nodded and allowed herself to be led in Bulstrode's wake. She was nervous, yes, but she was also thrumming with excitement. Hermione was on the verge of making a new discovery, and her thirst for knowledge was overriding any qualms she may yet harbor about being intimate with another girl.

Bulstrode continued up the steps, moving nimbly from one moving staircase to another. Once they reached the fourth floor, she turned left and followed the corridor until it branched off again. This time, Bulstrode chose a darkened, dusty passage that didn't appear to be well-traveled. Just as Hermione was beginning to have some doubts, Bulstrode stopped in front of a door and opened it with a spell. She beckoned Hermione inside, then lit several lanterns with a flick of her wand.

Hermione looked around in wonder. The chamber was too small to have been used as a classroom. It was devoid of furniture, but several pillows were mounded on the floor, and a narrow window afforded a view of the courtyard below.

"My Kneazle likes this room," said Bulstrode. "I bring her up here when I just want a quiet space to read or do homework."

Hermione relaxed. Perhaps she and Bulstrode had more in common than she'd previously thought. Hermione sat down and made herself comfortable. Bulstrode sat next to her. She didn't touch Hermione, although she was certainly close enough to.

"Were you nervous your first time?" Hermione blurted.

"My first time with a girl, or with a boy?" Bulstrode asked. She laughed at Hermione's stunned expression. "I've dabbled with both, but I find I prefer girls."

Hermione cocked her head to one side, curious. "Why is that?"

Bulstrode grinned at her. "Girls are soft and pretty," she replied. "They smell better, and they taste better."
