hp_coffeehouse Prompt No. 50 - Summer Moon
Summary: Harry tries his hand at matchmaking.

Harry fairly strutted into Dragon Brew the next morning. He was prepared for Lynsey to give him some cheek, but the young barista didn't even glance his way. Harry followed the direction of Lynsey's avid gaze. A handsome young bloke sat at a table by himself, sipping a cappuccino and leafing through the Prophet.

Harry looked back at Lynsey. "You're drooling."

She closed her mouth and toyed with a curl of her dark hair. "Do you know who that is?" Lynsey whispered, her brown eyes wide and dancing with excitement.

Harry looked back at the young man and stroked his chin thoughtfully. "I believe I arrested him last year for disorderly conduct."

"You did not!" gasped Lynsey.

Harry laughed at her outraged expression. "I've no idea who he is. Sorry."

"That's Caleb Clarke, the lead singer of Summer Moon."

"Oka-aay."

Lynsey blinked at him. "Auror Potter," she scolded. "You disappoint me."

"Potter, kindly refrain from disappointing my staff."

Harry forgot about Lynsey and turned his attention to Malfoy. Memories of the previous night flashed through his mind and had his heart rate increasing.

"You're drooling," Lynsey deadpanned.

Harry closed his mouth and cleared his throat.

"Oh my god!" shrieked Lynsey. "Did you two finally do the mattress mambo last night?!"

Every eye in Dragon Brew turned to stare at them.

"Lynsey, I believe you're needed in the kitchen," Malfoy said, his voice sounding a bit strangled.

"Yes, sir," she mumbled. "Sorry."

Harry pivoted to face the patrons of the coffee shop, and his eyes narrowed in challenge. Everyone immediately found something else to look at, save for Caleb Clarke, who grinned at Harry before returning his attention to the paper.

Harry slowly turned to face the counter again. He was half afraid of what Malfoy's reaction would be. Instead of appearing angry or even embarrassed, Malfoy had a faint smirk on his face. The two of them shared an eye roll and a quiet chuckle.

"Would you care for a Long Black, Auror Potter?" Malfoy asked politely. "It's on the house to make up for the commotion caused by my barista."

Harry smiled. "I won't say no to a Long Black, but I'll pay for it. Would you also fetch me a cappuccino and have Lynsey make one of her famous hearts in the foam?"

Malfoy raised a brow. "Dare I ask?"

"It's for that handsome bloke at Table Five."

"You're throwing me over so soon, Potter?"

"Of course not," Harry replied. "I'm having too much fun stringing you along," he added, repeating Malfoy's words from last night.

Malfoy snorted. "Plonker." He turned away to prepare the drinks, disappearing into the kitchen for a moment before he returned with the cappuccino.

Harry accepted it and whispered, "Lynsey fancies him."

Both of Malfoy's brows rose. "She's going to murder you."

Harry saluted Malfoy with his Long Black and turned away.

"Do you intend to pay for those, Auror Potter?"

"Nag," muttered Harry, handing Malfoy some money. "Put the change in Luna's jar."

Harry approached Clarke and boldly took the seat across from him. "Mister Clarke."

"Auror Potter."

Harry pushed the cappuccino across the table. "This is from the lovely Lynsey, who is currently hiding in the kitchen."

Clarke smiled. "I had hoped the attraction was mutual."

Harry felt gleeful and protective all at once. He leaned in and lowered his voice. "If you break her heart, I will break your legs."

Clarke's easy smile slipped. "Duly noted, sir."

Harry nodded and stood, gathering his Long Black as he prepared to leave.

"Thank you for the inspiration," Clarke said.

"The inspiration?" asked Harry, glancing back at him.

"I'm going to dedicate my next song to you," said Clarke. "It's going to be called The Mattress Mambo."
