Boredom makes me do weird shit.

Been studying Chinese as a lark for a while now... I know how to say "hello", "person" and "table", but that's about as far as Rosetta Stone took me. So I figured I might learn a few new things by trying to translate a banner that appeared in an episode of Doctor Who ("Turn Left").

Here's what I came up with, just me, a Chinese dictionary and about 8-10 hours of mumbling absently to myself about radicals, strokes and intonation:

神 shén - omen, god, spirit (suggestive of lightning)
掌 zhǎng - palm of hand
上 shàng - top, superior, above, previous
明 míng - radiant, clear, next
珠 zhū - pearl, bead
水 shuǐ - water, streams flowing together ???
合 hé - many, to join
浦 pǔ - beach

"The pearls of many waters will be joined on the beach by the hand of the Oncoming Storm."

I could be way off, but hey at least it sounds kinda poetic.
