I'm in the process of making a lemon sponge cake for my mother. I have a good feeling about this cake. I have the feeling that it's going to be awesome. Or is that a sick feeling, from licking the bowl? I can't tell.

I think the lemon juice made the egg whites stiffer, because when I folded in the dry ingredients the cake mixture seemed to EXPAND ( Read more... )

I managed to write over 800 words yesterday! There may be a significant quality gap between what I wrote last night (well, this morning, a lot of it; I lost track of  time) and what was written before, but I wrote words! With sentences and everything!

Rice with out-of-date* sushi vinegar and soy sauce with melted cheese mixed in for lunch, that's what's delicious.

*5 years out-of-date, to be exact. I'm sure it was clear when we bought it...
