Dallas ISD drama
Wow. Just wow. DISD decided last night they were going to lay off 550 teachers in core subjects! Everyone is really, really upset. Can you imagine? Because DISD is a douche and discovered millions of dollars in deficit, the teachers have to pay for it. Oh, but there is a bonus to it. They will provide the teacher who is layed off with information on job counseling and job fairs. Isn't that sweet of them? Pink slips start on Oct. 10 and end Oct. 17. Please cross your fingers for me. I don't see why I would be layed off. I have certification, I got a really good PDAS evaluation last year and our school is understaffed. But at this point, I will not put anything past DISD.
On a brighter note, the house is coming along quite nicely. My recliner was delivered yesterday (where I am sitting right now) and I got FIOS cable, internet and phone installed. I am totally set.
All I have to do now is face the pile of essays that need to be graded this weekend. If only freshmen knew how to write it would be less painful. It is their first essay, and I had them write it the first six weeks to see where they are in their writing skills. So you can imagine the pain.
