Denied entrance.
Today the kids went to the Dallas World Aquarium for a field trip. Intially, my name was not listed with the group of teachers who were chaperoning. Ok, I was disappointed (I really wanted to see the penguins) but I got over it. Well, due to weather conditions, it turned out that ALL of the kids were going to the aquarium at the same time. They were scheduled to go at different times, but that didn't work out. SO, as there were no children left (in the lower grades) to watch, one of the other teachers told me to come along to the aquarium. I said that I wasn't on the list, but she told me that didn't matter.
So I walk to the aquarium with the kids, and when I got there, the head teacher told me I had to go back because there weren't enough tickets. I was SOO embarrassed. I had to walk back to the school because they wouldn't let me in the freakin' aquarium. As I was walking back, some of the other groups of kids were coming towards me, all yelling, "Ms. Emily, Ms. Emily, where are you going?!?"
I joked and said something like I wasn't cool enough to go in the aquarium (or something equally silly) but I was really embarrassed. I know it wasn't my mistake, but it's still embarrassing to have to walk back to the school because I couldn't go with everyone else.
When I got back, there was nothing to do. So I chilled at the front.
When the kids got back, the head teacher found me and told me that I was included for the field trip tomorrow. As the field trip is all day, I ASSUMED I'd go tomorrow. But, after the the whole thing with the aquarium, I wasn't sure.
Gosh, thanks for including me for tomorrow. I hope it doesn't trouble them too much. ;-)
