I was checking out the LJ spotlight, and decided to join
laceandflora, because it looks like a really darling community. Somehow I got inspired and decided to write an essayish view on certain questions that plague us in our daily lives. Although, I chickened out and decided that posting an essay would probably not be suitable for that community. So here I am, sharing it on my own. This is something I'm working on for my own website, so there will obviously be more questions. This time around, I'm only sharing one. Hopefully, some of you will enjoy it. Without further ado, here are the details:
I’ve decided to do a small exercise with the tarot cards, in order to answer some of the most maybe mundane questions of all. Many would consider them to be so, but indeed there’s more to them than meets the eye. Then again, doesn’t it apply to every single living creature on the planet as well? No one really knows a person completely, even when you’re living in the same house. It takes a lot to trust anyone, especially individuals with issues doing so. I’m one of those individuals. Although, time has passed, and I’ve realized that the beauty in life itself is the coming together of all different types of living beings.
Now, I will begin by shuffling my Rider Waite deck, and picking out one single card for each question. I will evaluate it and answer how my hearts feels it to be so.
One question I’ve always wondered about-and I’m sure many ask yourselves this same question when you’re at your lowest- is: "What makes living, life in general, so wonderful?"
Ace of wands ( reversed );
Life as we know it, has it’s good and bad moments. Indeed, sometimes the bad outweighs the good. But doesn’t it feel that much more gratifying when something good comes along? The ace of wands in itself is a beginning, and by being pulled out reversed just amplifies the fact that we have to accept the bad to come through for the good. No one is perfect, and we’re constantly learning everyday. The ace of wands is fire, and is the adrenaline rush towards the goal we want to accomplish most. It’s the opportunity to experience more. The expectation of knowing some day near, all your heart’s desires will be met. Naturally, we wouldn’t want to overwhelm ourselves, so we get the things we want most in small portions, little by little. If from the moment we are born, receive all that we’ve ever wanted, all that your soul yearns for… Then, what is the point of this journey called life?
The ace of wands is growth, and one would see it as the leaves sprout out from the wand itself. We’re being handed the baton of life, to carry on and make something of ourselves. In doing so there will be countless struggles, but upon reaching the finish line it’ll be all worthwhile.
The ace of wands with it’s desire also means sexual energy-arousal- and the importance of how we direct that energy. Funny, how many people would immediately assume that we’re all sexual deviants or the like. Sure, I can’t deny the fact that many thrive on that energy, but it’s a part of life and it’s completely normal. Although, there’s more to arousal than just sex. In fact, many use that same kind of raw energy to manifest the most beautiful things in this world. It’s the excitement, the yearning, the want, to create something incredible. Many would believe it’s the same for sex. So next time you’re doing something you really like, whether it be reading a book, cooking, drawing, singing, planting, ahem love making… Think of the ace of wands. ( I can insert a really dirty joke here, but I really shouldn’t :3 )
It’s the beginning of a most passionate endeavor, and one that will lead you to the best results if you only give it the right amount of care. Your intentions must be pure, somewhat innocent like a fool. But remember, just because the fool might seem ignorant to the world around him, never underestimate him as such. Remember, everyone knows more than they lead on to. The Fool isn’t any exception, he’s just more oblivious to his inner wisdom.
So what makes living wonderful? Well, I believe it to be living itself. We make life-the process of living- wonderful, the people inhabiting this planet-this universe. Give yourselves some credit, without life it’d be very boring. Without the love of others, of living things, nurturing the world, no one would be here right now. Even if there have been countless of disasters in the past, and regrettably in the present and future, we’re still here. Isn’t the fact that we’re still here, enough to make you want to continue striving for more?
I would say, give yourselves a round of applause, because this world is far from easy to live in, but indeed we are living. Because we are, we have the ability to make this world a better place.
The belief that you can, is enough to make it all possible. We’re still here because of those who do believe, and struggle, and want.
Haven’t you wondered why you’re still here? Well, that’s easy ( or maybe I should ask the cards, just to be quirky? ), we have a reason to be. When that reason is gone, we’ll be gone. Life is wonderful because of the reasons we create to be something in the here and now. So take that wand, and be the magician of your own life. Control the magic, and manifest your desires for more, because you’re more than certainly capable of it.

You know what's amusing, that after I pulled out that first card, something told me to pick out another, right below the one I had chosen. Want to take a gander at what I chose? ;)
Six of wands, upright, heading towards the future, with your head held high. ( Also known as the victory card, for obvious reasons. ) Now that's certainly quite inspirational if I do say so myself. I think I'm onto something here. ;) My cards are so full of character, seriously. I love them! xD
And that's all I've written for now... So, what do you guys think? Was I too corny? I certainly believed every word I typed. I hope that others see the beauty in everything they see and do, because it really is everywhere. I'll be adding this on to EA.net soon. I was actually posting this here, to encourage others to ask similar questions to their cards, to see what they'd get. If you'd like to share I'd be more than happy to read your responses. In fact, if you have any questions in mind, and want me to ask my own cards, that's acceptable too. Regardless, it all becomes fodder for my website, so I'd be really grateful.
I'm not sure the Halloween event I was planning on making would be possible, unless I'm back home by then. I'll see what happens. Regardless, I'll probably make an entry from wherever I'm at, and have an open discussion for fun times. I would hope by then I have my forum dressed for the occasion. D: Hmm, anything else? Ah, yes, I will be calling upon my wonderful members in the future. If I've read your cards before, and you have been satisfied with the results... I would love to collect testimonials to add later on to the site as well. But that'll come later! I still have so much to put together! Just to throw that out there though! :D
Anyways, thanks for reading everyone. Until then!~ Also, for more updates until I set up the mailing list, you can also follow me on twitter ( empressarcana )!
