Without boring everyone with the long story...
e were asked to trap five mostly feral cats. The person who requested help is an elderly lady who's been feeding the cats for several years, and wanted to have them "fixed". She called the well-known local (supposedly) no-kill shelter (who publicizes that they help with ferals...which they absolutely do NOT) (Oh, how I HATE these people!!!)and they blew her off. She had even told them she would pay whatever the cost was!
Anyway, we set out the traps on her deck (where she feeds) last night so the cays would get used to seeing them, and this morning we baited and covered them.
Not an hour later, she calls and we had one. Collected it, and no sooner than we got home, she calls again and there's #2.
A couple of hours go by, and #3 is ready to go. Number 4 follows shortly afterward. I just got a call that #5 is now safely in the trap. She's pretty sure there are four females and one male...which makes sense in a small colony. They have appointments for spaying/neutering, health check, and vaccinations on thursday morning. They'll stay with us until they're recovered, and then they'll go back to their "mom", who is determined to keep them well-fed and happy.
A very good day!
