Valentine's Day SUCKS
So people think I'm bitter. Well, maybe I am. But its not because I don't have a boyfriend, like Heather seems to think (though for her to say that was a little uncalled for). No, its more than that. It goes back futher than that. A lot further. A lot.
Think it was easy being the girl in elementary school that always got less valentines than everyone else? The girl that was usually forgotten, or got the plain valentines? Yeah, that was me.
And then, do you think it was easy that, in junior high, suddenly being transplanted into a different state, not just school. And of course, all of a sudden valentines are no longer manditory. Guess who didn't even get a "Happy Valentine's Day!" from her friends? Yeah, me.
When it meant the most to me, I never got anything. My parents have always been sweet about it, telling me one day that I would get candy and flowers and saying that they always thought I was beautiful and special. They would always get me a little something, just so that I would get something on Valentine's day.
Last year, it finally clicked. I realized that Valentine's Day was a load of shit, that it was a pointless "holiday". Its just a reminder for people too stupid to tell the people they care about that they love them on a regular basis.
So yeah, I am bitter. But I have my reasons. No one fucking cares.
And if you even think about posting, "Oh Erica, I care!" Bullshit. I'll fucking rip your head off just for that. Show me on a regular basis that you care, not on some stupid ass non-important day that everyone makes such a big deal out of. Is it really that important? No.
