arcadia, to you

You know what's unfair?

That I can down forty dollars worth of alcohol in about an hour and be completely unaffected aside from a pleasant easing of the knots in my shoulders.

But anyway. Went out tonight with Jess and Katie to watch Dave's (Jess's boyfriend) show at the Darby Pub down the street. I've mentioned him before in passing, and possibly the fact that I worship the ground he walks on, but let me reiterate.

He is goddamn brilliant. Not a word of a lie.

The entire time watching the show, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was experiencing history in the making. Like people would make horrible faces at me in jealousy years down the road because I got to sit and watch that, his early gigs before fame found him.

I had goosebumps from start to finish. I didn't hear any of my tablemate's conversations. I'm sure I looked a little lovesick, because I was, and rather still am.

Tomorrow I'll dig up his demo record from Jess's room and let you guys have a real taste of what I was treated to tonight.

For tonight:

Dave Phillips (MySpace profile. I know they're evil but he's got music up there and it's beautiful stuff so go listen. Listen to Tonight Today if you listen to nothing else. None of my favourites are in there but I like that one best of the ones that are.)

What I wouldn't give to go on his Ireland tour with him this summer. *wistful*

Now I need to sleep because I work tomorrow morning.
