It's that time of year again: the wasps are out, and I'm collecting nests again. For this process, it's time to update my lists. I am always looking for people to help me collect wasps. This involves going out to field sites, helping me haul stuff around and holding flashlights for me. You will be relatively near the wasps (within 5-8 feet or so), but you don't need to contact the animals, or get nearer the nest unless you want to. Mostly I'm looking for people with cars who are willing to lug me and my stuff out to field sites, but there are some sites where a carless assistant can also be useful. Compensation for gas money is available.
Wasping generally involves going out relatively late and getting back after midnight at the earliest, although on cooler days earlier trips may be possible. I am happy to provide bribes of dinner or treats. I usually go out about once a week during the summer, so there are plenty of opportunities. If you want to be on the list to be contacted when I'm making plans, let me know.
