13 of 30 - Episode III

   So I finally saw Episode III of Star Wars. I found it to be a thoroughly pleasant experience. I suppose I'll put my reactions to it under an lj-cut since if by some freak chance I'm not the VERY last person to see it, my ramblings might cause some spoilation. But first I'd like to reiterate two things I've said before:
R2D2 = The Cheat

Chancellor Palpatine = The New Pope

As to the last point, I know tehre was a picture demonstrating the similarities side by side floating around awhile ago but I couldn't find it this evening.

   (1) So in Episode III my hunch from the beginning, that it wasn't cut & dry that the Jedi were right all along and the Empire was an illegitimate and evil development -- that in fact there is reason to believe the previous Republic was terminally disfunctional or at least vitally less competent than the Empire, was confirmed. I find it particularly noteworthy that the Chancellor-Emperor gained all his power through legitimate means -- votes of the Senate, while the Jedi did attempt to act completely extraconstitutionally to eliminate the Emperor merely because he belonged to a rival religion if you will that they considered evil.

(2) On thing I think would have been really cool to have had included in the episode was if they cut occasionally to what was going on on the public news channels. As the seat of governance for a vast galactic state, events there would have been covered in depth by galactic CNN. The events portrayed would make for some crazy headlines. Without this aspect of "the rest of the galaxy cares," it appeared as if life on Coruscant went on unawares, and the epic battles of their Senators and executive officers were given less interest than ASUCD Senate--Commission Chair wars.

(3) One little thing I noticed: The Emperor tells Anakin/Vader to shut down the Droid armies once he's killed the Droid leaders. Then Obi-Wan & Padme show up ... and AnaVader ends up getting barbequed ... but he never turns off the Droid armies!!

(4) Also, does this mean all stormtroopers are clones? How does Luke pretend to be one then?

(5) I was a big nerd and got excited when I saw familiar things like Grand Moff Tarkin.

(6) In the end I think the story is awesome... except for Episodes I and II. I think the whole series could actually go on without either episode. Or maybe they could be combined into one episode or something of background, or at the very very least they need to be redone completely, because as they currently stand, they're UTTER CRAP!!!!!11111oneone

After seeing the movie, Kristy and I went to eat at Fuzios. The service was unusually bad, with our food arriving before our appetizer, and generally long delays. The guy next to us had to wait like half an hour for his check and looked like he wanted to like die or go on a Sith rampage (tm) or something. I found myself thinking it would be pleasant to have some kind of timer-clock one could place on the table which would visually demonstrate for yourself and hopefully any waiters who happened to glance at it as the tip gradually decreases the longer one is left waiting for the bill.
   And we had terrible service at Thai Bistro on Friday and at Hunans last week, whats wrong with service around here these days?!

In Other News: You should all check out two articles authored by citizene that didn't make it into the Aggie spoof edition, on account apparently of personal grudges.
