Swing-tastic!

Sorry i haven't updated much the past few days. Life here has become pretty routine, and this week has held a lot less of the exciting adventures of previous weeks. Monday was a good research day. Tuesday and Weds were kind of slow research days. Today was a medium day that was cut short by swing.

Weds involved two meetings, one of which was actually useful. The first was on how to use the library. Apparently they feel we need to know. Not overly useful, mostly just showed us around the website. The second meeting was basically a 'how to' of what graduate school admissions look for. Which was very useful and i learned a good bit. Also learned an interesting tidbit of info that since I am here this summer, i get a fee waiver on the application fee to apply here to grad school. Pretty cool, all the more reason to apply here, as though i didn't have enough already.

Tonight was so much fun! I left work (which actually was really hard because we got a new toy to play with an hour before i had to leave, so i wanted to stay and play) at around 6:10ish and walked back, grabbed a quick dinner and then went with four other people to meet up with melissa at the Firehouse for our weekly swing class. The class was good, very intro, but also east coast this week, intro to Lindy. I did learn the charelston, which mark will like. But the best part was the dance afterwards. There were so many good leads there! The place was packed, but i danced for at least two hours with a bunch of different leads. One guy was really cool and knew a bit more east coast and told me he thought i was a great follow. Pretty cool. Some of the leads were soooo awesome! It was a ton of fun to dance with them, although i'm sure my feet will be angry with me in the morning. Oh well.

They did a Jam Circle at one point for someone's birthday and anyone from out of town, so they basically shuffled us all in the middle of a large circle and started the music and leads just kept cutting in after a minute or two of dancing. I must've danced with at least eight or nine different leads. Was so much fun!

But now i'm exhausted and going to bed. Maybe tonight i'll sleep amazingly, instead of the past few nights of restlessness.

I love swing dance so much! I'm so glad i got started in it.
