I have discovered I have made it impossible for me to get sick of any song in the whole wide world.
Want to know my secret? I do not listen to the radio. Almost ever. If I do listen to it, it's usually Hack on JJJ (in the car on the way home from work) or Classic FM (in the car on the way home from work on a bad day when Hack would just bug me).
Ok, here's an example.
I had not heard anything by Fall Out Boy simply because I hadn't had the opportunity of seeking out their music. Although I'd read all about them in the appropriate music magazines about how they had Jay-Z on board (who is apparently a big hip hop producer... whatever) I pretty much had no clue what they sounded like. Until I saw the video for "This ain't a scene". Flicking channels on Sunday morning, I stumble across a video featuring Seth Green (who I love) and I was hooked. "Oh." I say to myself, "It's that Fall Out Boy band" and I watch and I listen and I find myself pleasantly surprised. The lead singer is a wodgy, slightly overweight guy, the pretty guy is tongue-in-cheek about his prettiness so they got my vote for going against type, and the actual song was extremely well put together.
So everyone's saying "well, duh. We've heard/seen it like 40 bazillion times and we're bleedin' sick of it."
My point exactly. I love not being in the know. It makes life that much more exciting.
