so for days i have been kind of nervous about my birthday and what the festivities will be like, but see, here it is just 30 minutes into my 19th year, and really if nothing else great happens, i had those good birthday moments. in the hour leading up to my birthday, i sat outside and read "on the road" and drank some rose tea. then with about 15 minutes to go i went and looked at the city lights from my porch. and then with the last 10 minutes of being 18 i danced in the wet grass of my front yard. at midnight my parents came outside and called for me and when i walked in, a vanilla ice cream pie, since i don't like cake, was waiting with a one and a nine candle on top and of course 1 more to grow on. i had another cup of tea with my parents, laughed with them and enjoyed the family moment of my birthday that would have been missed this year as they are going to key west in the morning. it was the perfect way to start a birthday, now i just hope the fates align to make the rest of the day pretty ok.
happy 19th birthday to me. i sure have learned a lot over the past year and the 18 prior. whether it's poetic or pathetic i can't help being reflexive and optimistic about the years past and the years to come.
well i should go to sleep so i can get up for work tomorrow.
ps-i bought my flights for costa rica today... pretty groovy,eh?
pps- did i just say "pretty groovy, eh?" i am a dork.
