Autumn

Getting autumn colder at night. My favourite season is teasing me. I can still leave the birds' window open during the day, and I'm still taking them outside every day, but it'll soon be too cold for that.

I had planned to write today but I've been running since 4:50 this morning and I'm running out of energy at 8:00 pm. I only sleep four hours a night, and I'm not sure that's enough. I'm just not sure how I'm expected to do all the things I need to do if I sleep any longer. I did get some writing done last night, and it felt good, and I moved the story along.

I haven't watched anything really outside of The Office. I'm on Season 3. I haven't got back to Penny Dreadful and I couldn't get past the first ten minutes of The Defenders. Book wise, I finished The Darkness That Comes Before by Scott Bakker. I'm undecided. I think I prefer fantasy that has some element of awe to it, and there is none in this novel. It's a story of machinations, of suffering, of faith, and the abject misery of being alive that almost every character experiences. It's a clever book, and perhaps that's the intent. Perhaps that's the focus. But I read fantasy both to escape and to be feel something other than fatigue and disgust. I get enough of that during the day.
