It's a new month at school now that Golden Week is over, which means class numbers have changed slightly. I no longer have any completely full days (19 kids), instead hanging between 16-18 every day. It's amazing how easy it is to deal with 16 toddlers after having 19 at a time.
One boy, Z-kun, has also made the switch from short stay (leaving before naptime) to long stay this week and it's a difficult transition for him.
On Monday we whisked him past the moms hanging out in the hallway picking up their kids and straight into the sleeping room. He didn't start really getting upset until we got him changed and ready to lie down (stripped down to his nappy and undershirt), tidied his clothes, and put him into his futon. He refused to lie down and kept crying for his mom - I told him in English that Mom would come after naptime. I told him in Japanese. One of the other teachers on shift told him.
No good. He kept crying for his mom over and over.
Until he looked down and screamed ズボンないよ~!!!! (I DON'T HAVE ANY PANTS!!!!)
