Your fic is totally my finale happy place.

And I see your point, but the plot, and how the characters fit into that, didn't end up being something I liked much either. As much as I liked Tales of Ba Sing Se and eps like The Ember Island Players in A:tLA existing, I don't think they sacrificed character development during the more plot heavy episodes of that show in the same way I think happened with Korra. It wasn't even the actual direction the show went (I don't mind the bloodbending explanation and my issues with how Korra's growth into the Avatar and an airbender isn't really matched by personal growth so much as something done to her----the Spirit World comes to you!----are really a separate thing that's trying to break free of this tangent and my tenses), so much as how uneven the whole thing felt. But when you can dedicate an episode to teenage romantic drama, but can't spare any time to build up a non-bender crackdown or any focus on a conflict between Equalists and benders, that's when I start losing faith in the success of the plot. If they'd stretched this out over both seasons, or an extra half season, I might have reacted differently. Er, despite the fact I would have probably ranted about Lin and Korra losing their bending if we'd had to wait between seasons. I might have reacted differently eventually. :)

Which is a long way of saying both characters and plot made me sad in different ways in the end and I probably need a full extra post to sort through what I liked and didn't and why.

Aang and Katara's oldest is a girl named Kya, a waterbender. Bumi is a nonbender.

Ahhh, I really wish both of these facts had made it into the show!
