One day this will not involve lists...
I've been semi-regularly around reading things, but my mind flies completely blank whenever I attempt to post. So this is a partial attempt at catching up on oh, half of what I want to put up here, but lack time for.
1. I finally had a chance to watch the premiere of Fringe and I almost entirely adored it. For once I hit almost the right balance of spoilers to still be surprised by the best bits. <3
- Everything about the scene with her mother worked for me. EVERYTHING. The whole episode and drive leading to Olivia coming home only when she thinks she's lost everything else. Her pain and confusion all collapsing because she WANTS this place with a mother she helps pick the paint colors for the walls. Her safe house. As the emotional core of the episode, it's a fabulous, wonderfully acted scene and yet it cements the thing I feel most conflicted about with this episode, that Ourlivia is now essentially Altlivia. Which plays off the worst parts of Walternate (lol, these names you guys...) toying with her mind her in nearly the same way Walter did when she was a child for me. And honestly, I'm just less interested exploring the connections between the two Olivias if the one I love best and first doesn't act of her own choice, though it could still work out to be an interesting storyline if it doesn't last too long and mixes up the personalities a little more. (Also, I feel like kind of an idiot for not figuring out that this was a possibility after seeing all those preview pics of her working with Charlie.)
Probably what I would really have wished for is a more ambiguously evil Walternate, so that we could have had Olivia being offered a deal to work with Fringe division Over There in order to get back home, prevent the worlds from merging, possibly send Peter BACK over/work out the most awkward visitation rights in the universe, yada yadda, etc. Which could still have Walternate manipulating her for his own purposes, lots of CHARLIE and tension within Team Fringe, possibly scenes with Elizabeth Bishop, Olivia's mother, and such.
- CHARLIE STILL TELLS THE BEST AWFUL JOKES. <3
- Henry Higgins was both hilariously named and entirely awesome. Hopefully, we'll see him again. And speaking of him, Olivia should not be charming while threatening his adorable family. AND YET.
- FRINGE DIVISION T-SHIRTS! I WANTS ONE! Obviously, a more public profile comes with small perks. :D
- The bit about Olivia not being a great shot was..weird, since this is OLVIA DUNHAM. Though I suppose I can wave it off as feeling the difference between being good and an Olympian.
2. MINI-BATCH OF DW ICONS! All spoilerly for The Big Bang. (caps from cleverguns )
(I'm not saying chaila43 's gorgeous River Song (River/Doctor) fic, Present Perfect, is to blame for me rewatching this episode again, but it is AMAZING and about time travel, how astonishing and in love with life and wonder River already is, plus bonus little!River reading A Wrinkle In Time! <3 And now I want a River 'tesseract' icon. *puts on list* ;)
3. And because the one time I played was super fun, a meme from like a month ago!
