I like food, food is good.

I think a lot about food. Perhaps it's because my own diet consists of either avocado, cheese, and onion sandwiches, or rice with vegan chicken and hot mango pickle, or rice with eggs scrambled with carrots and onion and hot mango pickle. These are indeed very scrumptious dishes. They are, however, the only things I am willing to spend the time and effort cooking, so, one can imagine they can get old. Note the central role of the hot mango pickle. Without it, some of this stuff would be so bland it'd be inedible.

Anyway, I've been deciding where I want to go eat for my birthday. Yes, I know my birthday is a long way off. But it's important to me! Options I have considered include:

*the Ethiopia Restaurant on Telegraph - a big fave of me and Luke. I always get drunk on the tej.
*the Korean fried chicken place on Telegraph and 61st. I got super-drunk on the soju, then stumbled back the 2.5 miles to downtown Berkeley with Derek.
*the Mediterranean place on College Ave, an old staple. Usually I don't get drunk there, but once when I went with Yumi, Luke, and Luke's roommate James, I got embarrassingly tipsy.
*apparently there's a hole-in-the-wall Burmese place somewhere in SF. I haven't been there yet, so I don't know if I'll get drunk during dinner.
(In general, I never INTEND to get drunk during dinner. But it happens when a glass of wine couples with very low alcohol tolerance plus a liver already stuffed with allergy meds).

I think, however, I may go here: Golden Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant

One of the Vietnamese case managers I work with, who is attempting hardcore veganism, doesn't like this place because of the gluten-based fake meat. I, on the other hand, have no problem with gluten. I've been here only once - with Peter G. and Sarah-Lu, after the Harm Reduction conference - and got the "pork" rice bowl. It was YUM.
