It's now officially cold in Seattle. I don't feel the need to add "for Seattle" to "cold." It's supposed to be in the twenties tonight, I think, and there has been talk of teens though I'm not sure it's going to be quite that cold. Somehow I feel that plumbing is traditional on Memorial Day. I may be mistaken about that but certainly it felt inevitable when I noticed the bathroom sink not draining around noon today. Last night I tallied up the birds I saw last February because, yes, that's what one does on a Saturday night when one is me. I discovered that I saw far more species in February than in January but I also went to the coast last February which likely accounts for some of that increase. Sure, I could continue last year's birds and book report which would be handy when the end of the year came and I wanted to see what I'd seen and read but, frankly, I found that a bit onerous by the time it was over and I have big plans to create some sort of chart for tracking birds this year.
