It's been a busy weekend for photographing. Friday evening's
Figgy Pudding, which is the fundraising caroling extravaganza in downtown Seattle each holiday season, was followed by a mess of birds, mostly thumbprints, mostly in the magnolia, on Saturday.
Thumbprint (first of several)
Yellow-rumped warbler (Audubons)--shy about being photographed
The female of the species (distinguished by the mad eye)
Not in the magnolia at all, but rather a junco and a pair of finches in the apricot
A Bewick's wren
And the adorable male of the species
Last night was tree-lighting at the West Seattle Junction.
There was a children's choir which sang three quick songs and left the audience wanting more.
Then the tree was lit.
Today, a gloriously sunny day, we went for a wander around West Seattle. We heard birds but saw practically none. Those we saw included a Steller's jay and a northern flicker, as well as a mess of gulls mobbing a seal, so I can't say it was a complete wash. No bird photos resulted but I finally pulled the camera out a few blocks from home:
Mount Rainier. Have I mentioned lately how much I heart West Seattle?
Dinner included carrots and tomatoes from the front forty.
Okay, so maybe the tomatoes are no longer outside; they still grew in the front forty originally; these are the vines I brought in to ripen inside. Eli thought I was crazy, too.
