I remember a time that I *wrote* LJ posts

I'm back from what was, for me, a rather long vacation trip: something like nine days on the Oregon coast. It felt more like three days, really; time simply flew. I had a lovely time as did, they say, my various companions. I had four nights at the Wee Wakonda Wigwam aka "Captain's House" and another five nights at the honestly named Ocean CloseRead more... )

I did not go through Longview. I took 5 to something like Lake Oswego on the way down; I thought I was doing an end-run around some city and ended up pulling off of the main road to check my map around there. As it happened where I found to pull off was a fruit stand selling lovely berries. It was that sort of trip. On the way back I merged back onto 5 at roughly the same point, I think, though I poked up through McMinneville on 18, which I don't necessarily recommend. I cut over to 101 at Lincoln City on the way down and I cut over from 101 at roughly the same point on the way back. I missed the Cannon Beach area both ways. There are, as it happens, two good-size bridges in/around Portland on I-5 and one of them is a drawbridge! Teh huh?

The wee houses were in the window of the house next door. It's their lovely garden, too. The view from my bedroom at Wee Wakonda Wigwam was of my dusty parked rental next to 101, but the view from that kitchen window was the beach and ocean. The slightly less dusty rental caused a young boy at the fruit stand with the pony to enthuse, "Nice Nissan! 0-7?" which had me totally baffled. But it was a nice car on which I put about 1150 miles. I feel so...American.

I woke up at some point during the night last night to think how lovely it was to hear the surf before I realized that it was, in fact, traffic on I-5 I was hearing. Sigh. -em.
