I remember a time that I *wrote* LJ posts

I'm back from what was, for me, a rather long vacation trip: something like nine days on the Oregon coast. It felt more like three days, really; time simply flew. I had a lovely time as did, they say, my various companions. I had four nights at the Wee Wakonda Wigwam aka "Captain's House" and another five nights at the honestly named Ocean Close in Yachats Proper. It was a short walk to the beach from the Yachats house but it could equally accurately be named the Green Salmon Close
since that useful coffee shop was within easy walking distance as well.

It was one of the finest trips for wildlife sighting, not even counting the headless seal on the beach. I saw enticingly alive seals frolicking in the waves, lolling sea lions, a whale spouting in the distance, birds galore,

including my beloved sandpipers, a browsing deer (or a child in a deer suit if one shares Eli's suspicious nature), friendly cats,
any number of crabs:

and a possibly dangerous pony:

.

The weather was varied but the beaches were always delightful regardless:

I acquired a bit of a sunburn on my legs on a day so cold that I was wearing a sweater and a leather jacket but a few days later it was so warm that I went swimming. On that day, I understood that they weren't kidding about this warning:
(deep water & strong outgoing currents), but I survived Poseidon's attempt to get even with me for snatching a perfectly formed sand dollar from his grasp.

For alexfandra I include the usual "views from the windows" though these are all from the Yachats house:

View from the kitchen window

View from the deck

View from the bedroom window

It was also a fine trip for bonding with The Three over a Scrabble board:

and for enjoying my favorite winery:

Despite this typical photo, traffic on 101 was reasonably brisk.

Alas, we did not make it back to Tea Party in Newport for high tea but we bought a few scones and took them to the Nye Beach beach for an impromptu picnic; two scones, two jams, butter, and clotted cream were a steal at $3.50.

The drive home was pleasantly leisurely and uneventful. Returned to my vibrant neighborhood last night, I stopped in at the local quickie-mart to pick up fresh milk; there I saw a woman in her Harborview gown, listing alarmingly, while her boyfriend destroyed part of the candy display. It is, however, still nice to be home:

precious photos, vacation
