Summary: Alex had fucked Jack over one too many times. He had abandoned him years ago. But no matter how often Jack tells himself he doesn't need him, or that he'll never forgive him, it becomes quite obvious that is a lie.
Disclaimer: Never happened.
A/N: Oops I said I'd update this last night but I'm ill so I didn't really get round to it.
Masterpost Chapter 29
When Josh saw the other boy, he burst into tears, because he'd thought John had stopped. He really had.
'Jack!' he cried as he ran over, practically collapsing to the ground beside him, tears rolling down his cheeks thick and fast. Thank God he hadn't decided to bring Alex with him, because the boy really didn't need to see Jack like this.
'J-Jack,' Josh stuttered, holding Jack with one arm whilst he got his phone out his pocket with the other. 'Jack, y-you're gonna be okay. Okay? Just, just stay with me...'
Putting the phone up to his ear and listening to it ring, his hand was shaking so much he thought the thing was just going to fly right out of his hand.
'911, what's your emergency?'
'M-my best friend's been s-stabbed...'
'Okay sir, can you tell us where you are?'
Holding back an angry scoff at how uninterested the woman on the other end sounded, he worriedly glanced round at his surrounding and panicked, because no, he didn't know where they were. When he was looking for Jack, he'd just kind of ran all over town.
'Um, n-no, I-I don't know where we are...'
'Are you in town?'
'Y-Yeah.'
'Can you describe your surroundings for me, please?'
'Um, well, all it really is is a r-river...'
Rolling his eyes as he heard the woman sigh softly down the phone, he clutched it tighter.
'Okay sir, we'll send an ambulance out to try and find you as soon as possible.'

Now was probably the time to tell Alex.
Jack had been taken into hospital, and Josh was sitting in the waiting room, holding his remaining tears back and twiddling his thumbs in his lap. Sighing, he reached for his phone, calling Alex and biting his lip.
'Josh! What the fuck's going on?!'
'Alex-'
'You've been out there for fucking hours!'
'Alex! You need to let me tell you what's happened.'
As Alex registered the serious tone of Josh's voice, he panicked.
'W-what? Is it Jack? Is he okay?'
And Josh just looked up at the ceiling, as though that would give him an easy way to break it to Alex. Of course, it didn't.
'Josh...' Alex whispered, and Josh sighed, realising he had to just come right out with it.
'Alex... He, he's been stabbed.'

Chapter 30
As soon as he heard Josh utter those words, all of the colour soon drained from his face.
'W-what?'
'Alex, I think you'd better get up to the hospital.'
'Is this some kind of sick joke?' Alex hissed.
'Do you honestly think I'd joke about that, Lex? He's my best friend, you know,' Josh scoffed.
'I know,' Alex whispered sadly, rubbing his head as he tried to take it all in. 'Well, is he gonna be o-okay?'
'I really fucking hope so, Lex,' Josh sighed.

Alex all but sprinted in to the hospital waiting room, collapsing into Josh's open arms and crying his eyes out.
'Why him, Josh?' he sobbed. 'H-he's done nothing wrong...'
'I know, Lex,' Josh whispered, holding the boy a little tighter.
'D-do you know who did it?'
At that, Josh closed his eyes in sadness, frowning.
'No. But I think I can guess.'
He felt Alex shake his head against his chest.
'I'm going to fucking kill him,' Alex whispered angrily.
At that point, a friendly looking doctor walked out into the waiting room.
'Anyone here for Jack Barakat?'
At that, both boys jumped up, looking at the sympathetic doctor with wide eyes, who walked over and shook both boys' hand.
'Hello, I'm Dr. Hoppus. Can I ask how you're both involved with Jack?'
'I'm his best friend, and Alex is his boyfriend,' Josh answered, and both boys were relieved when the doctor simply smiled at them, not looking disgusted by the last part in the slightest. However, the doctor's nice friendly, warm smile soon went back to the sympathetic one he'd worn when he had walked out, looking at both boys with serious eyes.
'I'm terribly sorry to have to tell you this, but Jack lost an awful lot of blood when he was stabbed. He's in a coma. We're not sure if he'll wake up.'
