Edinburgh is bustling with street performers and festival go-ers in August. I thrive on the vibrant atmosphere. This year I varied my activities with a highlands day tour to explore more of Scotland.
We went to Loch Ness and saw some of the most scenic parts of UK. (No Nessie sighting unfortunately.)
Heather grew wild along the hills and there were huge reflective lochs. The Highlands were simply glorious. Shame I forgot my camera, doh!
A late night was had before the tour and the early start was brutal. We had to race to catch our bus and after the tour, I was utterly knackered.
There were two shows booked that night, Arj Barker and Jason Chong. Arj was fantastic as usual. Jason had a late session so my energy levels was by then long gone. He made lots of Asian-Australian jokes and when he asked if any Aussies were in the audience, I was the only one! I don't think the others really got the jokes.
The last day of the weekend was relaxing. Edinburgh had the bluest skies and it was hot. We had an outdoors lunch with wine and vintage shopped in the afternoon.
It was sad leaving Scotland. Edinburgh is a stunningly beautiful city and I would love to come back to see it properly when it's not manic. Atleast we were'nt getting ripped off anymore by our hostel who jacked up prices threefold for the weekend!
The only half-decent photo taken with my iphone on the tour. The Highlands are alot prettier than this.
Grant and I had a cheery Sunday lunch with friends.
Yummy hot chocolate shot from Chocolate Soup. So thick and concentrated, you can stand a spoon in it.
As you can see, Edinburgh as quite hilly ;)
Tired tourist shot with the castle in the background.
On the trail through town to see the next show.
