The Mentalist Fic: After the Fall

Title: After the Fall
Pairing/Characters: Patrick

Spoilers: Pilot, Bloodshot
Summary: Patrick's thoughts alone in his hospital bed (Bloodshot Missing Scene)

It's easy enough to be distracted when Teresa forces him to go with the paramedics to the hospital, easy enough to scoff that it's nothing, a minor injury, it will pass.
But once he's all alone in his hospital room, eyes bandaged closed, it's dark, too dark, and he starts to feel the walls he can't see closing in on him.
He doesn't believe in karma, fate, psychics, any of that metaphysical crap.
But for a moment he has to wonder if this is the punishment he's due for making his wife and daughter a target with his reckless pride.
