Another long partial fic finished! This one was started in February of 2006 and I just finished it today. I had really wanted my last published fic of the year to be a partial and not a new one and this had only one scene to go in it, but it's been resisting my efforts for the last two months. But today? Bang. Done. I finally got an angle, which was what I needed. I couldn't pick any one POV for the final scene, so I did all three - focusing on the unique way each of the Eppes men interprets Margaret's music: Don by playing, Charlie with math, Alan by remembering his wife at the piano.

Some of this is based on reality. Esa-Pekka Salonen is the Music Director of the L.A. Philharmonic (who has a beautifully architected new concert hall - breathtaking!). I was around when he first started and now that he's about to step down, I feel a bit wistful about his legacy. The Green Umbrella program is real as well. For anyone in the Southern California area I highly recommend you check it out. The New England Philharmonic is real as ( ... )
