lessons learned

We finally located my smartmedia card reader, only to discover that it and my laptop are unable to talk to each other. Nobody cares enough about this product any more to have drivers that work beyond Mac OS 10.1, and since I have one of the Intel-based MacBook Pros, I can't run classic. The workarounds are running windows emulation or using a different computer to snag the images and bring them over. Also, the camera can't talk directly to the laptop, because there's no USB cable that works with the camera. Granted, the camera's from 1999, but it still works perfectly finem so this is irksome.

Do not stand outside a door a baby is opening and closing, because if he shoves on it suddenly, it might catch your toe and bend 1/4 of your big toenail back. And if this has happened, be sure none of your family members step on it later in the evening, because your scream will wake both children and start them wailing.

Always count the pills in the bottles form the mail-order pharmacy when they arrive. Because if you discover 50 days into a 90-day supply that one of the bottles only had sixty pills in it, they won't send you any more. Because it's been more than a month since they sent it out. Luckily today is the renewal date and I should get the refill before I run out entirely, but being short a month's worth of crazy pills is generally not a good thing.

Also, on a late night grocery store run last night, wrog saw a deer. Apparently we have deer living on the island? I knew we had bald eagles, but they take up much less habitat than deer.
