Little thing the first! Not too long ago I ordered some patterns from
Heirloom Knitting. She also sells plastic page protectors in A4 size. I thought "hm, yes, I should get some of those." Then last week I bought the Spinner's Shawl pattern from
Fiber Trends. They seem to be moving to a new format, with color printing on somewhat glossy card rather than the photos stuck to blue paper, but the patterns are still in page protectors in a big binder at the yarn shop. The new format of pattern is printed in New Zealand (FT is doing a lot with Naturally brand yarns from NZ), and it is about an inch too tall for the standard Office Depot page protector. So I says to meself "that's A4! I have the right size protector!" and sure enough, I do.
Little thing the second! Some of you may remember that I have a bunch of Playmobil, mostly Viking stuff, that I've been putting together so that I can stage tableaux from Wagner's Ring in Playmobil. I really wanted mermaids for my Rhinemaidens and was pondering resorting to Barbie Fairytopia figures, but wasn't happy about the scale mismatch. Yesterday I found
one that's in current production at a toy store while trying to find stuff for the kids.Various searches show that there's another one that was discontinued 5 years ago, as well as a "sea king" (who could be turned into a mermaid with a beard removal and change of hairdo). So I'm bidding on some on eBay (I'll probably get outbid since my bid isn't terribly high, but I'm currently ahead with 17 hours to go and not at max bid yet) so I can have three *distinct* mermaids. If all else fails, I could get two more of the current one and swap out hair on two of them. Hair is easy to change on Playmobil. (I'll note I'm not quite dorky enough to start *painting* them... yet.)
eta: Little thing the third! The baby is asleep on my lap, having happy dreams. He's not just smiling in his sleep, he's actually *giggling* in his sleep.
