She got sharpshooter ranking, so the Navy is loaning her back to the Army, or something. She is settling in in Kuwait, and mom reports that she is either at "Ali Al Salem airforce base called the Rock in the middle of nowhere or else Ahmed Al Jaber which is close by and also in the middle of nowhere" (spelling hers and possibly wrong). That sounds like a good reason to screw up and NOT get a sharpshooter ranking, quite frankly.

Well, the place she was going *before* she got the ranking was right on the Iraq/Kuwait border. I'm not sure what the Navy would be doing there, but I think it was some sort of customs thing.

Yeah, the Navy runs all the Customs ops in theater.

Also, that was probably Navistar. It's really not that big a deal; I wasn't that far from there, and I was only 16 miles from the Iraqi border.

Ali Al Salem is just down theroad from where I was. CUSHY livin there. Ahmed Al Jaber may be the LSA (Life Support Activity) between AAS and Camp Virginia. She may get leave; it'll depend on her command.

Kuwait is no big deal; she'll be fine.
