this is odd, and some Mozart twitterings

Not a cloud in the sky. When I sit in my usual spot onteh sofa and look outside, my eyes tell me it is raining. Go outside, nope, not at all. Back inside, it still looks like it is raining. It must be some trick of the light and the dust on the window, or else my eyes are upset with me for some reason.

In completely unrelated news, I finally rememebred that I needed to prep something for my chorus re-audition this weekend. Pulled out a book of "Mozart arias for soprano" and discovered I'm at this awkward point where, say, Susanna is too low, but the Countess is too high. Also figured out why Abduction from the Seraglio isn't done often; one of the sopranos has repeated high Ds and the other has an E (it appears to just be in ornaments, so it's possibly editorial). When I complained to kathrynt about this, she said "you have a D" and it is true, I do (when I'm not sick. At the start of the summer, I barely had an A, it was quite frustrating). But I don't think I have a dozen Ds in an audition piece. I was showing these things to wrog and he flipped through the book and decided to play the Queen of the Night's aria. So I gamely sang along what bits I could remember, and it was comically determined that at this point in time I most definitely do not have the requisite high F, what came out was some obscure flavor of E that was not in the same tonal world as our piano.

Anyhow. Have settled on Pamina's aria "Ach, ich fühl's" From Magic Flute, which fits the desired criteria of being comfortably in my fach, something I already sort of know, lovely music, and approximately three minutes long. Hooray!
