Buh!

Not only am I to learn the soprano 2 part for the quartet #35, I'm to learn the soprano 2 part for the trio #28, which is just three women -- unaccompanied. Assuming it's not done by chorus (which it sometimes is, but in this case likely won't be; we still don't know yet). Apparently I have a stronger low range than our section leader? Knock me over with a feather.

I need to find some mp3s of the paid soloists and see how humongous their voices are (which is to say, as a fairly light-voiced singer, am I screwed? Do I need a month of voice lesson panic?).

ETA: Some searching by the lovely kathrynt reveals the soprano soloist can be heard briefly on track five of this and seems to do a lot of new music and some early music. She has my flavor of voice, rather than a huge "war of the vibratos" kind of voice. I am reassured, because that's exactly the sort of singing I've tended to do best at as well.

...aaaand here's the alto, at a university concert. She was born in 1980. I feel old now.
