ETA: I am so sick of the words fast-paced and multi-tasking.   Why do 98% of jobs have to include those words in their description?  Look, I'm pretty sure I'm not an imbecile or a lazy bum, but apparently my ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task to the 100,000th power just sucks.  I understand ( Read more... )

 Okay.  Tomorrow morning I'm driving to Atlanta for Dragon*Con.

And I have survived the first week at my new job.

Yesterday was orientation, today was on-the-job training.  Got a bit spazzy/anxious with all this new information I have to process and remember, but I attribute it mostly to a lack of sleep.  I'm going to bed early tonight to catch up and be refreshed and calm again the next morning.

So far though, this seems like something I will like overall.

I was happy to receive a job offer.  Having to negotiate salary sucks, though.  I think I handled it all right, but they didn't budge at all.  So, I hope I didn't look too selfish and unrealistic.  They made a great deal of effort to emphasize how family-oriented, how committed to work-personal life balance, how nurturing the corporate culture  ( Read more... )
