‘Samson’s Journey’
I have been talking to a very excited friend of mine on Messenger. Her conversation reminded me of the way God intervenes in our daily lives and cares about what is important to us.
She breeds Golden Labradors and I well remember the time I had one of them on my lap while she drove him to his new home. My dog was a shitzu/poodle and fully grown was nowhere near the size of a labrador pup. Imagine my surprise then when I had this large dog on my lap on a journey which took one hour. Everything went smoothly until the pup decided to be car sick and vomited all over the front of the car. That was one time I was glad I had been blessed with no sense of smell.
Anyway this story is not about me its about my mate Gold and one of her pups. She is very involved in breeding and training her lovely golden labradors and has also been helping out a friend get ‘assistance dogs’ up and running in Western Australia.
Her friend moved back to New Zealand and became involved in the New Zealand Epilepsy Assist dog Trust. Two weeks ago she sent for Samson one of Gold’s pups to become a working dog for a young man with cerebral palsy and epilepsy in New Zealand.
Gold didn’t hesitate, even though she had to be back for the next lot of puppies that were due on the 20th October.
The following is Gold’s story
‘We had to get Samson tested for export/import and he got to fly in cabin with me- upgraded to business class’
glen : ‘wowsers’
‘God was working it out all the way coz ordinarily it would be impossible’
glen : ‘That’s for sure.’
‘Australian quarantine requires at least 10 days notice (they organised it in 2 days); blood tests take at least 5 days ours was (2 days) and no one other than a disabled person has been able to take a dog in cabin as far as we know.’
‘New Zealand epilepsy organised letters confirming that I am owner and guardian of dog and we were treated like celebrities by Air New Zealand staff...
glen : ‘well since you are Gwen the celebrity in the eyes of God, of course you were treated so by an airline’ lol
‘No waiting in queues through customs etc- escorted by staff and security everywhere and given 5 star treatment’
‘I had a wonderful sense that God's favour was on our adventure.’
glen : its exciting isn’t it this journey of faith?’
‘I had such a wonderful blessed time in New Zealand, of course it was heartbreaking to part with my boy Samson but he is doing such a wonderful job and how privileged am I that God used me to bring sunshine to someone's life!!!
