Sometimes I talk to people on the phone and I want to be so elegant and conversational in explaining procedures but then I fail. Fail miserably. It's like Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail wanting to zing people, only I don't even want to be mean, I want to be nice and helpful, so you'd think the Universe would help me with that, but you'd be wrong there.

I wrote this next little bit last Tuesday, and never posted it because I didn't have time, but it's kind of funny, so I'll post it now:

Here I am, at the Archive Costumes. Things have slowed down since yesterday, when I was here in the morning, BY MYSELF, helping nearly 30 people, BY MYSELF, for approximately two hours. It was an interesting test of character. Turns out I'm really good at customer service and making things up. I could put that on a resume, yeah? Skills-- Pleasant phone voice. 80+ WPM. Computer proficient. Good at making things up.

I went to Target this morning intent finally buying a pair of boots that I have considered, tried on, stewed over, and put back on the shelves twice now. I decided, you know, I like those boots, they are perfect, I could wear them on a daily basis, I am going to buy them. LO AND BEHOLD! They have run out in 7 and 7.5. Every other size imaginable could be mine, but I don't need every size imaginable, I need a 7 or 7.5. FML, UNIVERSE.

Since then, I found the boots at the American Fork Target, and we have had a delightful relationship ever since. They're currently on my feet, in fact. So the Universe does, in fact, love me. And my boots.

Ames and I have kind of been on a materialistic rampage lately... I mean, I've never really been one to shy away from, you know, anything at all from Forever 21 or Target, but it definitely got a little crazy up in herr for a little while. We took out a student loan, see. And we went a little ridikalus crazy, see. And maybe we bought Ames like five cardigans, and we both got jeans, and he's got new Vans and I have new boots, and then there's the jewelry and maybe a hat or something, and a headband in spite of my moratorium on buying headbands (since I have approximately 40-- no lie).

After we decided we were finished updating our wardrobes, we went to town settling our house and making it feel like a house instead of just a place we live. We have guppies. Have I ever mentioned that? Well we do. Unfortunately, the little one called Red Fish has passed on, but two are still going strong, and Ames wants more today. I got a bookshelf from Target, which I assembled myself. We got hanging shelves for our living room and one for the bedroom. We maybe went to IKEA and got two nightstands, a kitchen table, matching stools, and a square picture frame for the little painting I bought at Shakespeare's Globe last August, and they look goooooooooooooorgeous all assembled and placed in our home. Today we intend to get a $20-assemble-yourself coffee table from Target, some new pillows for Ames, and eventually, I'm going to learn to cover furniture so that things will begin to COORDINATE!

Oh, also we got a 32" Insignia HDTV. That's just fine.

The materialism will now cease, plzkthnx.
