I made chicken bruschetta with garlic & herb Laughing Cow cheese on toasted tomato basil bread for Jo Jo & I the other day... & I made my world-famous pasta - Mark's favorite - the other night. At 11pm. It's cavatappi noodles, mushroom alfredo, bay scallops, crab & portabello mushrooms. =)

I slept in a bit today, and got up at about 10:15am. I started my day with a nice breakfast, and then Mark & I took a bike ride. The wind was blowing us all over the place, but it was fun. I think I'll take Drake on a walk too, if the weather holds out. I'm making fruit salad and a mango-ginger chutney today, and picking up my living room. Tonight ( Read more... )

A Wrinkle in Time, not only because I spent a lot of time working with it this year (pleasure reading, research paper), but because I think it's a fun, solid young adult book that anyone can read and enjoy. It is written very well, has great, round characters, a wonderful fantasy-rich plot and even some good moral lessons to be learned. ;)

So here I am, at the start of Summer 2009.

I am working at Red Robin and Hot Topic, and I enjoy both very much. I work with great people, the customers are usually cool, and I make decent money. Two things that drive Mark nuts about me:

1- I didn't have a dishwasher growing up, so I tend to leave all my dishes in the sink & not load the washer. I've gotten WAY better about it, and I run the washer quite often (and end up nagging him to HIS dishes in there).

2-I'm a terrible pack rat, which leads to my room getting trashed fast. I've had it ( Read more... )

"Mary's doctor surprised her and Morrie by releasing her on Wednesday. Morrie wasn't completely prepared but an ambulance was ordered to bring her home. Shortly after coming home Mary experienced what the Hospice nurse believes to be a small stroke. Mary became very withdrawn and unresponsive and slept for several hours. I had quite an eventful weekend.

So, Grandma is back in the hospital. Mom picked me up, we got lunch & headed home to Holland to see her on Friday afternoon. At this point, she’s doing ok, but we’re not looking at more than a few months if that.
