Spring break was last week and I spent ungodly amounts of time writing a paper for my civil liberties seminar. I turned in the first draft today, which we were advised to treat like the final draft. I think if I turned that piece of crap in for the final it would deserve a C. I worked my butt off, but I just didn't have enough time make sure my citations were perfect and revise it to really give it a nice polish. Hopefully with enough revision and some serious editing (my paper is about 5 pages too long!) I can get a B+ or an A for the class.
Plus I need a "sexy" title (as my undergrad thesis advisor used to say in a thick Korean accent), to get my reader's attention and really make an impression. My topic is federal employments laws and the LGBT community, basically that the courts and legislators have completely and systematically violated LGBT equal protection rights in both Title VII (and the upcoming ENDA) and Don't Ask Don't Tell. I'm hoping my title will be clever and maybe even a bit cheeky, like a double entendre. I'm open to suggestions.
I worked a fair amount last week, oh yeah except for randomly taking Monday and Wednesday off due to my car being wedged into its parking space by walls of ice and desperately needing a haircut, respectively. So I really just had a normal week without the annoyance of having to go to class (which I'm begining to feel is only a fractional aspect of my legal education).
This week is Good Friday, which means I get Friday off from work and I don't have any classes scheduled either. Leigh gets the day off too so we'll actually have a whole day together on the weekend that I don't have to devote to homework and we have pledged to NOT spend running errands/cleaning (though the house is pretty gross right now)....anyway, that should be fun. I plan to reclaim my lost spring break. GoKarts, anyone??? Perhaps a little indoor driving range?
OK, I have plaintiffs to stalk via e-docket....
