the winter that wouldn't end

Last Friday night we got a absolutely ridiculous amount of snow. It was coming down pretty hard while I was driving home from work then when I looked out the window the next morning the whole world was burried under about 2 feet of white fluffy snow. It looked really pretty until it was time to get out of the house on Sunday. It took Leigh and I a good 30 minutes to shovel and pull the car out of its spot in on-street parking. The actual driving wasn't so bad. When we got back from our errands, don't ask me how, but we got the car completely stuck in a snow bank in a parking spot. We've been trying to get it out for two days now to no avail. I think I've lost my beautiful car to a snow deamon, never to return again until everything melts off.

Yesterday (Monday) I took the day off from work because of being carless and spent the day working on a paper. The paper really isn't going as smoothly as I had hoped and is proving to be a very stressful writing process, even for being just a first draft. Hopefully I can get it finished satisfactorily before the draft is due on Monday 3/18. Today I ended up taking Leigh's car to work . She's hoping by the time she has to leave for work she'll be able to get it out. I have less faith in Buffalo weather than she does and imagine that she will be walking to work.

On a happy note, this morning I discovered that cutting up a banana into my banana bread flavored oatmeal is a really fantastic breakfast. I think it's my new favorite food to take to work with me. Now let's just hope I can get enough work done on my paper so I don't have a panic attack later this week.
