summer is around the corner
but you wouldn't know it from the weather in Buffalo. It snowed today....again. My apartment is a little on the cold side and I'm getting really tired of wearing two layers of long sleeves every day.
So, naturally, I'm thinking only of summer. A few weeks ago I bought my plane tickets to Seattle for a family event in April, which is very exciting. Yesterday I bought my plane tickets to and from Juneau for the summer job. I'm leaving May 31 and returning August 10, both with overnight layovers in Seattle. The good news is that my uncle lives nearby and has invited me to crash at his place between flights.
The only bad news is that it makes my summer 3,500 miles away from Leigh that much more real. I'm really going to miss her. We're not sure if she's going to be able to spend any significant amount of time with me in Alaska this summer. First she said four weeks for sure, no less. Then it was definitely two weeks, maybe four if she can work it out at work. Now she's saying definitely one week and indicating that four weeks is probably impossible. I can't blame her at all, but it still stinks. I really thought there would be more flexibility in this area.
Anyway, I hope I have a lot of fun in spite of my sadness of being so far from my wife and kitties.
