As many of you know, Leigh and I journeyed south for Christmas. I took the whole week of Christmas off so we could see both families since we hadn't seen either in ages. We left around 7:30pm Friday after work and managed to turn an 8.5 hour trip into a 12 hour trip thanks to some bad drivers in PA who decided to get into a massive car accident. We sat in traffic for over an hour without moving. We arrived at Leigh's mom's around 6:45am very tired and slept till almost 2pm recovering.
Christmas in Grundy was pretty nice. We ate WAY too much. Seriously, my pants don't fit anymore. Her family acted like they wanted me there for the first time, which was unexpected and awesome. Leigh's whole family was very generous to us both so we left with lots of great stuff for our apartment and some cash to boot.
We got to my Dad's house around 11pm on Christmas night after a 3 hour drive. I hadn't seen them in a while so it was great to see him and Donna. We did presents right away and of course kept snacking on holiday leftovers. Seriously, my pants won't button. Leigh and I are not eating anything for a week just so our clothes will fit again. Dad and I went for a hike, walked the property, etc very nice time. Last night Leigh and I met my mom for a restrained but pleasant dinner in Roanoke, my treat. We also did a little bit of post-Christmas exchanges at the mall and saw Sweeny Todd at the movies. Good stuff.
All in all it's been a really nice time. I'm relaxing to the point that I'm not getting my trademark moot court stuff done. I plan to do the research for my section tonight and do the writing in the car tomorrow when Leigh is driving.
I can't believe I start January classes on Wednesday. Ugh, I'm seriously regretting signing up for those now. But if I don't take those classes I'll be short some credits and regret it even more later. So far only one of my grades has posted, an A- in my international finance class. That's super exciting, especially considering my mediocre grades last year.
Well, I have more relaxing to do before I start that research.
