I havn't updated in a while and I need a breather while at work so now is as good a time as any.

I finished all my exams last week and I still can't believe other people are taking finals. It's pretty surreal. I'm 50% lawyer now, well academically speaking anyway. This brings me to the job front update. Last Friday I recieved the most pathetic form letter rejecting me from the patent lit position in Alexandria, VA. This was after flying down there on my dime, sitting through the world's most positive interview where it seemed like they were just meeting me for formalities but they'd already decided to hire me, etc. It was really very shocking to be rejected. Not only that I didn't get the job, but that they didn't even have the decency to call me or write a personal letter from the hiring attorney I met with. Instead I got a generic letter two weeks after being promised a phone call that was signed by an HR person I never even met. After having the idea suggested by 3 people, I called today to follow-up and ask for feedback. Of course the hiring attorney wouldn't take my call and I really dont' expect a reply to the voicemail I left.

Now I'm thinking about alternatives to being a traditional lawyer. I'm looking at completely different sources and starting my application process all over again. Who knows what will come of it? My only consolation is that I've finally talked Leigh into hiking the AT with me this summer if we're both without meaningful employment and we can find someone to take our apartment for those 3 months. I guess there's always that option.

I'm working my first official full time week at PSS. That's kinda cool because I'm finally doing mostly lawyerly assignments. Of course my week got started a little late because I had to dig my car out this morning. It took me close to an hour to get the foot of snow loose and then drive my Yaris out of the snow bank. Anyway, I get all of next week off for Christmas. Leigh and I are driving to VA on Friday evening and staying till the following Friday at varios parental houses. Then I'm back for two bridge courses and as close to full time work as possible.

That's about it for now. I hope everyone has a lovely, safe holiday with friends and family.

ye olde job search, law school, christmas, leigh
