Oddly (or maybe not, I just need an introductory word), the fandom it's been easiest for me to get back into as a reader since my return has been KA (although there is more shit in that fandom.... my god. At least I've missed any of the interpersonal drama that may or may not exist).
I think I blame
guede_mazaka who isn't just prolific, but writes Lancelot in a way I just have to keep coming back to. Which is utterly possessed, but not submissive. And by this I don't mean uppity, passive-agressive sub (although, yeah, sure that's one of the things that makes this fandom funny), I just mean she captures something that I think it's hard for people to get their head around in fiction or RL, which is that one can be obscenely loyal and inclined to the facilitation of someone else's will (plans, logistics, ideas, etc. and whatever) and not be at all submissive and also harbour gifts outside of administrative assistant extraordinaire. One thing I notice in her writing is he never defends his nature, and never really has to.
And in real life, if you're firey, you're supposed to get the over the rest of it.
I'm still not sure what any of that means in the world or on the page, but it's an interesting conundrum, that's interesting when she writes it because it's nealry never a conundrum there.
Some things in some places can be facts, but not in others. Quirky.
