Is it possible to find decent LotRPS without feeling like I've wandered into a horrible horrible cess-pool of bad writing and self-delusion?
Because all the other RPS I read tends to have adequate if not witty disclaimers (actually, I'm a big fan of the creative disclaimer). And most everything I stumble on in LotRPS by anyone who isn't a writer I know from The Est is like craz crazy bad bad tinhat kookiness.
It amazes me that LotR is both one of the best justifications there ever was for RPS as well as one of the best cases for why it's a really bad idea.
Which I suppose goes hand in hand with HP as the best case ever for intelligent fic as well as the best case ever for banning everyone who thinks they are special in any way whatsoever from being in any fandom ever.
It almost makes me dissapointed in the KA fandom -- which is like a few really great writers, a few good writers and the usual dreck. No interesting crazy crazy. I'm sure its time will come.
