A longer downloadable X-Files trailer has been posted over at
xfiles. I've watched it once, but it's so fast and so choppy that I didn't get much out of it. Really I'm waiting for someone to write the detailed analysis so that I know what to look for before I watch it again.
leucocrystal? Anyone?
Download links It seems like good fic fests are coming thick and fast at the moment. We had
megillahfic and
purimgifts, we have
lgbtfest going on right now, and
gramarye1971 just drew my attention to
majoritython. It is, to borrow the description from the userinfo, intended to "celebrate the possibility that (at long, long last) either a woman or a person of color will be the next American president by producing fanworks about people of color and women in positions of political power." As such, it encompasses both RPF and media fandom. Signups close April 12th.
If I did it, my first instinct would be to claim Margaret Beckett. Mine, she's mine, I tell you! On reflection, however, I think that Barbara Castle would probably lend herself to more fic-worthy scenarios. By which I don't mean gen.
I note that of the four people who have signed up already, all of them have picked white women. And the vast, vast majority of characters suggested are white women. Interesting. I guess it is true that people aren't interested in writing about people of colour, because if you think about it the world is not exactly short of interesting heads of state who have been people of colour. Maybe it's just that they're not as unusual as female politicians? I'd like to believe that's the right explanation, but I really don't think it is.
