Speed update!
The babykeets came out of the nest today! The green one is a bit timid but will still sit on my hand, with occasional, half-hearted attempts to bite. The blue one fell asleep on my finger the first time I held it. Daniel's sister and I are each keeping one, and she really wants the green one, which leaves me with the super-sweet blue one. Honestly, folks, I'm in love with this bird! They're still not totally on solid food yet, so it'll be a few more days before we can separate them. When I can get Katie to take some pics, I'll post them, and y'all can help me pick out a name for my new friend.
I woke up this morning and my fingers were swollen. It's happened to me once before: freshman year of college, I was breaking out mysteriously in hives for a week or two, with one particularly bad outbreak that also included swollen fingers. There were no hives today, but I did have an itchy welt on my knee, so I think I may have been bitten by something. Whatever kind of critter it is, I hope it's gone by tonight!
The orthopedist says there's nothing wrong with my spine that could be causing the tingling in my hand (which moved to the other side this weekend, and has not been back since yesterday). He says if it persists, I'll need to see a neurologist. As for my shoulder pain, he wrote me a note excusing me from work for at least four more weeks. I can still do a desk job, though, provided I can find one. Here's hoping...
The first collected volume of The Unwritten is out. Honestly, if I could only keep one of my comics subscriptions going, it would be this one (with Walking Dead a very close second, but that's beside the point). And now that it's in book form, there's no reason for you not to read it!
