My violin and I are having a fight...

Our new teacher arrived in London on Tuesday. He's actually not British. He's American and lives in London. His name is Erik Chapman, and he plays in the London and Royal Philharmonics. We had our first studio class with him on Tuesday. He seems really nice, but he scares the shit out of me!!! It's not that he's mean...he's just slightly (very) intimidating. We went to hear him play in the Royal Philharmonic on Tuesday night. Perk of him being in the orchestra: cheap tickets! He can get us as many 5 pound tickets that we want...The orchestra was amazing! It was an all Tchaikovsky concert with the 1812 Overture, first piano concerto and the Pathetique Symphony. It was interesting to hear the 1812 in a concert hall, and the Pathetique was just gorgeous.

So I played in studio class today...the first time I ever played in front of Erik. Let's just say I made a great first impression (note sarcasm)...I'm playing the second movement of Bruch, shaking like a leaf, sweating, and thinking the entire time I SOUND LIKE SHIT!! And everyone in the room commented on how I basically sounded like shit...how nice. Wow...so it's been a long day. I'm off to practice until the wee hours of the morning for my crack of dawn lesson tomorrow. I think I'm going to bring him a large cup of coffee as a peace offering. Paganini and Ysaye...bring it on! Hahahaha....

Em
p.s. I need my Inner Game of Music book... :(
