Necrotic tissue!!

I got to watch (and assist with) an impromptu debridement today. Our patient had a DVT (deep-venous thrombosis, aka a blood clot) in her left leg that she had gotten surgery for. Her incision had dehisced (split open) and had been bandaged a few days prior to her appointment with us. The doc came in to talk to her about her procedure and happened to check her wound, which was looking rather grim - presenting with some red granulation tissue around the edges (good), but with grey necrotic tissue in the center (bad). So the doc starts poking at the dead tissue and cutting it away, and without getting into the more gory details, he cut away all the necrosis and you could actually see inside this girls leg. It was awesome.

Just thought I'd share. :)
