Love is an illusion
Love is not what we seek, but what seeks us
Romance is true love
but true love is false
Love, according to Billy Corgan, is who you know, who we know
Some say we need people just to boost our self esteem
I think this too harsh, I think what they
mean to say
is that sometimes
(sometimes)
our loves are there for reinforcement, assurance, duality, reciprocation
(and not nearly as selfish as they word it).
Some say
love is a pebble
skimming across a lake, bouncing
trying (not) to go underwater
(when it does we just find another pebble).
Sometimes if we throw it right,
it seems like it will skip forever
but this is just an illusion.
Love is an allusion
to the movies we see,
a cacophany or all the scenes we (try) to remember as perfect.
It inspires the spires and steeples
we build
to exalt the glory that is love.
How I would love to mimic every movie I see.
Knowing my luck, God would grant we this wish right after I see a movie
with an unhappy ending.
Either that, or I will be Mr. November but not until after Thanksgiving
(that is an allusion)
Love is an elusion,
an escape,
but from what? Reality? Ha!
We run, but to catch what? Maybe we just run for the endorphines.
Romance is a respite from life, from the mundane or the difficult
and if all goes right
it is the opposite.
It is a synergist
for hope
for productive behavior.
There are too many cynics out there,
too many lonely people.
If only people opened themselves up more
and made themselves more vulnerable.
Be my elusion.
